College Dorm Decorating Ideas Guys

How do guys decorate their dorm rooms?

Hey Guys Freshman here :)

I've seen alot of dorm rooms online with fairy lights and all that but their all done by girls. I have no clue on how to lighten up my room. How do guys do it apart from the generic half naked girls posters? Idk i'm lost. Would love to see some pics or things ppl have done :)

Posters, Dart Board, Basketball Hoop, White Board (came in very handy, were installing a full size one next year), Black light.

You can also get creative with furniture, we had a rug on top of our carpet so people could lay down and we had two round chairs that folded up.

Christmas lights are a cool touch of done tastefully, I like do the border of the ceiling with multicolored strands to ad a different lighting mood.

Banners from your hometown teams, video game posters and maps, and other colorful touches break up the monotony of white walls.

We had giant college flag and a rug, plus some alcohol posters and that was it. Our main focus was the fridge and what we got to store in it. Every other guy's room I've been in had no decorations

I had a single 10x8 picture frame on my wall last semester, otherwise: white walls.

You have to get a couple dope sports posters and a playboy calendar, its just a must hahahahaha. In all seriousness, we guys don't give a shit, its all about what a girl or guy, depending which way you swing, thinks when they enter your room. So keep that in mind and know what to take down if family comes through.

Just make sure that someone who sees your room for the first time can think of something to say to you. Whatever you want that to be, however, has nothing to do with us.

I'm an incoming freshman as well. I'm doing a poster of my favorite movie, a Scottish flag (I'm from the US, I just really like Scotland), and a home-made poster of my new local baseball team, the Hartford Yard Goats. Just get creative. I'm trying to decorate with stuff that will start conversations.

My room was pretty famous in the dorm. My roommate and I hung purple lights (school color) across the ceiling, and covered the walls with posters with anything from video game culture to artwork. Brought in a square of carpet and a couch. It was really homey.

Dorm life doesn't have to feel like a prision. People would come by our room because you could see our room from campus illuminated with purple. It was a good time.

Seriously, a large standing lamp really made my dorm room/apartment dorm room look much better than the overhead fluorescent light.

Grad Student

I used christmas rope light and command hooks to turn a corner of my room into a light. It turned out a lot better then putting a lamp in the corner. I always figured you could do something cool with those foam pool noodles too, but I never figured out what. Can't go wrong with bright colors.

A mirror is also great to make a space feel bigger and helps brighten a room since it reflects light.
